About The Good Home List

The Good Home List is an independent site about the products that make a home work better. No sponsored placements, no pay-to-rank, no filler.

Who writes this

Hi, I am Rona Jane Sabatin. I have spent the last several years working in search and content, and a good chunk of that time inside the smart home space specifically, writing about connectivity hardware and IoT devices for a US brand. That work meant reading a lot of spec sheets, a lot of support tickets, and a lot of one-star reviews.

That is where this site came from. Most product roundups are assembled by someone who has never touched the thing they are ranking. You can tell, because the guide never mentions the annoying detail you only find out in week three. I would rather write the version that does.

What you will find here

Buying guides and comparisons across five areas: smart home, kitchen and dining, home and living, patio and garden, and tools and home improvement. Every guide is built to answer one question honestly: which of these should you actually buy, and who should skip it.

How this site makes money

Through affiliate links, mainly Amazon. If you buy something after clicking one, I earn a small commission and you pay exactly the same price. That is the entire business model.

Nobody pays for a placement here and no brand gets to review a draft before it goes live. If a product is the best one for the job, it gets the top spot. If the budget option is good enough for most people, the guide says so, even though the expensive one would pay more. You can read the full affiliate disclosure and the testing and editorial policy.

Corrections

Products change, prices move, and sometimes I get something wrong. If you spot an error or a recommendation that has aged badly, tell me and I will fix the page and note the update date.
